VORTEX

lest the system collapse, let a convective centre develop!


Recently I've gone into tropical cyclones. Neoguri made landfall and dissipated last week in SE China, but I've been tracking the tropical storms Rosie and Durga south of Indonesia. It's simply amazing to study these massive (on a scale relative to us) weather systems. Of course, thank God that although here in Singapore we get loads of rain (like today), there's no extreme weather.


Today was quite busy. After lessons we did some interviews for the Robotics Club ExCo 2008. I hope my views won't clash too badly with others. Supposedly I have a gift for recognizing people's character and ability, but I might have difficulty describing such. The candidates so far aren't as good as I would have wanted, but should be adequate to lead the CCA for the next year. What goes through my mind is that we're not just picking the best leaders, but picking people who can both lead and pick the successive batch of leaders (can't differentiate that in practice).

After that ended late in the late afternoon, I went with 2 classmates to take part in an intra-school academic contest. The questions were difficult, but I did pretty well (or maybe I guessed good). Too bad the team score was pulled down. But that don't matter, for 2 reasons. One, I felt the questions were quite unfair, lacking biology or many arts questions. This advantages students with certain subject combination. If a contest is not credible in my sight I lose respect for it. Two, I managed to share a Creation magazine with someone, based on a question about stars. Definitely building the Kingdom has greater consequences than winning this competition.

I left school soon after, jogging back with a 5kg backpack on my back. XD


Since yesterday I gained a better interest and appreciation of rap (and a bit of hip-hop). I don't like rap battles, that's basically insult-spitting as an art, but still insult-spitting. It's cool to think fast and move fast, but I'd like to stay away from rashness. If I find the time I'll practice freestyle rapping in a 'nicer' way. Meanwhile my legs don't seem to be able to become nimble.. (I think I'll stop typing here, I don't wanna groan about NAPFA before [failing] the actual test tomorrow)

XD I've just received word that CKS is screening Chariots of Fire on saturday. So now I may choose between that or CK's (the difference an apostrophe makes) devotional workshop. It's exam season, the workshop might be poorly attended.. CKS is new, might this be the first overlapping of schedules? (and to think, KS and KSS got perturbed over a clash of schedules last month [which was later resolved]) sorry, I'm sleepy and all that's coming out are my thoughts.. hahaz
