So, Shine!

There is much I have yet to do for the community at large, society.

Recently on my way back from school, I met the canteen cleaner from VS. He was probably from China, but anyway, he asked me how I was doing and encouraged me to work hard. Then he started talking about how much $$ would be good in a job, like >$2K. I replied that it was not so much money, but how I contribute, that is important. He agreed (well, it would seem wrong not to do so.. but I think he was happy).

I've just read through at article on the newspapers about the China scholars. I've long realised that they are not fully competition. They are, after all, usually 2 years older. Anyway, it is the how one reacts to them that matters. For me, I've spent quite a good deal of time around them, I know their accent. As they typically regard themselves as a seperate community, as one from China, by knowing some of them I can easily break through to become friends with others. Their attitude isn't much different from those who first came to singapore, but instead of intending to return to China, most want to go abroad.
However, the point I want to make here is that one must correctly respond to competition. I'm sure I have, I've outdid most of them in the 0's. And by doing so, it helps me link with them, though with a tinge of 'eliteness'. Yet I usually try not to express it, that'd be boasting. So, in order to benefit from their presence, see their spirit to excel, be serious about work. That is to say, do not skip pieces of work, and take the initiative if unsure of concepts, schedules, or even vocab.

In other matters, between getting my face painted on Sports' Day (friday) and eating a bit too much yesterday, I've more or less completed my first draft of Preliminary Ideas for Project Work. The question I chose? Question 1 is easier to understand and more popular, so typically I did not choose it. I could've gone into singapore's political history.. but I am up for a challenge. Question 2 is confusing because the title is 'Entertainment' while the objective is the medium only.
[This post is mysteriously lengthening itself as I remember more stuff!] After the official part of Sports' Day was over, the college started mass-dancing. Being nearly useless at body co-ordination, I could have sat it out if I wanted to. But I decided to be a bit more constructive, and picked up litter in front of everybody. (they had gone down to the track to dance, while lots of litter lay on the stands) The worst areas were that of a particular house, which bought snacks. But really, hopping around picking trash is exercise in it's right.
